Email alerts

Email alerts are sent using an smtp server. The server settings are in global.conf .

By default no messages are routed to email. To set up email routing of messages:

  1. update global.conf for your site smtp server
  2. set the route in message.conf for the desired severity or individual messages to include email. Eg to make message 51 ('Response file $\vert$ for $\vert$ transfer is available') route to the log and email add a line:
    message.route.51 = 'log,email'
  3. optionally set the smtpaddress for email destinations for specific transfers.
  4. restart the service.

If the SFTPPlus service has any errors talking to the smtp server, it will not retry and will disable it's email routing. This is to prevent recursive errors when reporting on such a problem. Message 74 will be issued, which is of severity 'S'.
